Nick's ban appeal
« on: April 13, 2016, 10:57:13 PM »
I was banned after about an hour of gameplay, and I don't exactly know why even. What happened before the ban, was I had been in a truck with another player driving (Dread), on our way to a mission. Dread wrecked the truck, about a km from the mission, so we started walking. I ended up making it there, dread walked back to his vehicle. Another person (Gerg) had cleared this mission already, and getting ready to leave by the time I showed up. So I just hopped into his truck and just sat there for a second. he then sent me message in the local chat, asking "whats up?". I had started typing to tell him about driving here, and my driving mishap, but before I could even finish typing, I had been banned.

I never broke any rules, as far as I know. I can understand if he didn't want me in his car, or feared my being a thief, but I never took anything, or did anything, so it was never deserving of a ban in my opinion. So I am hoping I can get an Unban, or at least an explanation for something that I may have done that lead my into getting banned, or even a confirmation that, that was a bannable offence, and I should go about my days.

Thanks for taking time to read this thing.

After scouring the logs and discussions with the powers that be, we have concluded that Nick is not banned.  :D

Each time he tried to connect he disconnected within five seconds. No ban messages, no time outs, just connect and disconnect.

example:
[2016-04-14 | 02:21:17] Player #1 Nick (Nick's IP here) connected
[2016-04-14 | 02:21:20] Player #1 Nick disconnected

Which leads us to believe that his problem lies on his client side and he should validate all his files. If he needs help with this, have him come to the forums.

Well, I'm not sure what to say, to be honest. I get a very clear "You were banned." message, every time I try to get onto the server, and its very consistent with timing. I'm not getting further randomly. I have played other servers, including other base exile servers. They all worked for me. The only things I can even think of, is I maybe found some rare "game-breaking" bug, that's not allowing me to log in, and oddly gives me the banned message. Other then that random guess, I cant think of anything but that I'm banned.

The XO did some digging in areas I am not privy to and it seems you were banned by Infristar, not by any admin here, hence why it is not showing in our tools. The CO is going to have to look deeper into this and he is unavailable at the moment, but will get to it as soon as possible.

If you happen to have any scripts for this game or any other game running, try getting rid of them and rejoining, Infristar thinks you're up to something.

Infristar? I don't know if that's a person or program/etc. I have NO scripts on this laptop, for Arma 3, or any other game.

I gotta be honest, this makes me nervous about this particular player. If Infrastar is picking up a script running in his system there's something odd. Where there's smoke there's fire. I think a bit of caution is called for in this instance. And maybe reading into it a bit but his final line in his appeal makes me even more suspect. Justice my two cents Boss.

Hi Nick, I'm Hippi. Today I spoke with Doc about your situation. After looking in the anti-hack tools (Infistar) I did not see you banned, and none of our Admins banned you so I have discussed this with Sandman and he will look in the database when he gets home from work. If you haven't already, do a clean up on that laptop, verify integrity of A3 files and also check under A3 Launcher and see if your Exile mod is corrupt. If so you can fix it there. After that, reboot and try to join the game.

We will let you know if there is anything on our end.

Thanks,
Hippi

Ok cleared him from the anti-hack's internal ban list. All he needs to do is play nice now. Otherwise Bloody can have him. :)

Thanks, a lot. Really. I enjoyed the server while I was on, and everryyone was nice online, and on the forums here trying to help me get unbanned. The community you guys have built here is rock solid.

Heres hoping that it was just, an obnoxiously weird bug that got me picked up by your auto-ban!
