Squad XMLs
« on: May 26, 2015, 07:38:35 PM »
Some of you may have seen Papertigers' name and logo on the side of his vehicles and wondered 'how do I do that..?'. Well after about six hours of digging I finally got it sorted out. It isn't easy, but I have found the easiest way to manage and use your SquadXML file with minimal BS and tinkering for those that don't want to dive into lines of code.

For those of you that like to tread into those areas: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/squad.xml
I also strongly suggest downloading Notepad++: https://notepad-plus-plus.org/

For those that want the Quick & Easy-ish Way:

First your logo, the file MUST be 16x16, 32x32, 64x64 or 256x256 pixels in resolution,  no other sizes will work, I suggest 256x256. Create your artwork in a graphics editor like GiMP or Photoshop and save the file as a PNG-24, be sure Transparency is enabled and that your background is transparent. Once the file is saved you need to install/open TexView2 from the Bohemia Interactive Editing Tools Suite - Personal Edition 3 that can be found here: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=14435 You need only install TexView2 from the suite, the rest of the software is for modding.

Once TexView2 is open, either File/Open or Drag your image into it and Save As a .paa. Note, you must include the file extension in the File Name, example MyLogo.paa, if you don't it will save as a PNG, I don't know why.

If you need help with this, I am offering my services at the nominal fee of 1BCG for 1 custom .paa file, ready to be uploaded to your squad xml.

When you have your .paa go to http://www.dtclan.co.uk/ and sign up. Once you are signed up, upload your .paa , complete the required fields: Squad Nick and Squad Name. Squad Email and Squad Website are optional. Enter your GUID* and the Player Name that is associated with it, it must be exactly as it appears on your Player Profile. The click Update. Then copy and paste the provided URL (example: http://www.dtclan.co.uk/squads/111110101/squad.xml) into the Squad URL line in your DayZ/Arma2 Player Profile. You should be ready to rock.

* Your GUID can be found in your DayZ/Aram2 Player Profile.

For those of you that are members of The A Team, you will receive one personalized A Team logo FREE!!.
Admins & Mods also get a FREE LOGO as well!!

Yes I am shamelessly brown nosing...   8)

Here are a couple in game screen shots.

Here is a list of skins that work with the Squad XML.

Ethan, Jungle Camo, Special Forces, Gunner Outfit, Terrorist Uniform, Bandit Mask, Bandit Hat.

I will add more as I discover them.

It's the best one out of them all, of course in my simple minded opinion. Sad but true he hit the nail on the head.    8)

Doc, I love your work there, you created some awesome tags!
However, for Hippi, the only tag I can imagine, is a "Peace/Hippie Symbol" with a m240 scope on it :D
Maybe you can also put the m240 on one side and the ban hammer on the other?
