Yellow Mission Quirk
« on: April 28, 2015, 08:56:05 PM »
Ran into something with the yellow missions, Beik was flying north of Cherno and got shot down with what he thought was M2 fire. Im thinking no way as there was a yellow mission but it was up north. I get there and sure enough near the road are rockers which I kill and by their guns I recognize as mission AI. Near the road I see the crate stack and dead M2s.  There was a player near, cant recall the name,  and I think he was sniping at them. .

So we did an experiment. Ran into the middle of a yellow mission without killing any AI and it cleared, as yellows clear by player proximity only. The AI remained healthy and alert. After a while another yellow spawned, but the AI, gunners and loot crate from the old mission stayed until after we killed them. Therefore, I tend to think someone ran or more likely drove by the loot crate close enough to clear it. After a bit another mission spawned and the trap was set for Beik to fly over.

I'm just thinking about the poor soul that drove within meters of an m2 gunner and apparently lived to get away.

Well that makes sense. I couldn't figure out what it was doing there.  First off it was soo foggy that I couldn't see anything on the ground.   I wanted to take my son Chevy to his 1st yellow mission, he's only been playing Dayz mod for a couple days.   Was gonna land south of the mission that was on the map, which took us over Cherno.   We were low and slow, within 1km of the lz when all hell broke loose!

I was able to pull up and get out of there,  but the hills made it hard to accelerate and we got shot up bad.  Chevy was bleeding.   We continued taking fire quite a ways away and I was thinking the uaz ai were a bit OP, which had me a little upset (knowing now that it was an m2 makes more sense).  We landed in Elektro and Chevy bandaged, I gave him a blood bag.

Enough time had passed so I figured the uaz would be gone, we'd try landing one more time. Well that M2 was still there and first shot knocked me out, second killed the engine. I was like WTF! we both ejected, I was bleeding, we were able to get on top of a hill where I bandaged, but we were out of blood.   I ate and waited for my blood and hearing to come back.  My frustration was at an all-time high. I was ready to log off, but my son wanted to get the uaz ai that shot us down, so....

We headed back towards Cherno, I spotted 3 ai near an intersection, told Chevy to find cover and spot them, which he did.   I managed to count 5 or 6 ai, and thought WTF again how are there so many of them!   Between this and my feelings of late about other issues started to get me heated so to speak, but told Chevy to engage them. We got a few when all of a sudden the M2 starts banging away.  WTF again lol, I spotted what appeared to be a mounted M2 just as it got me.  WOW now I was boiling.

I reported what I saw, angry the whole time.   Sandman was trying to assure us it must just be uaz ai (which is what I first thought) and I'm yelling out loud - bull, I know what I saw.  Chevy was holding his own,  I kept telling him to disengage, but he was getting kills (11 total I think, not bad for ejecting over his first yellow mission).  I respawned in Bolata and was biking it back as fast as I could.  500m from the ai and an ai helicopter shows up!  I crest a small hill and can see down to where the ai were when Chevy starts to yell "Sandman, Sandman is down there".   Next thing I know the helicopter is crashing and it looked like every thing was clear.

All I want to do is get my stuff off my body and log off.  Sorry Sandman if I was a bit snappy, but that experience wasn't fun.  Although looking back with the understanding of why the ai were there I feel a little ashamed.   Chevy had a blast and has been retelling the story all night.
