I often talk about a base my 2 sons and I had on an old server years ago, located on Hill 367 where I am now. Well, back then the server owners allowed veteran server members to BUY a base (not build it in game), along with donor vehicles, etc. It turned out to be a bad idea, especially when the server got REAL popular and suddenly there were huge bases everywhere. I was one of the first base builders and tried to keep it modest (remember there were 3 of us in this base).
I'll also mention, that I like things that seem "organic" to the world we play in. Doc Morgan or Nathan's bases are great examples, they seem like something you would build, especially that close to Stary! So here is the base that used to be...

We kinda roll played it as a relief and observation outpost, and you know how I like to give people rides to safety.

Outer Wall defenses, this was a PvP server you know...

inside "heli" wall at my base, needed to keep snipers from shooting at the engines from hill tops a kilometer away. Turns out the game was usually too foggy / misty to see that far anyways. HEY HIPPI, you'll note 2 things, the Lil Bird (love 'em) and the green Mil Offroad - that was the one I was talking about the other day, I never lost it and it eventually became so precious it never left the base.
also, roll-play elements, along the left side of the picture is a large medical tent / mess hall and tents for temporary residents, this was a "vanilla" server, so no locks or safes (I'd never even heard of Epoch at this point), so pup tents were storage.
