Title: The Cleanup Cycle.
Post by: _Edge on January 30, 2016, 11:08:01 AM
When it comes to gear storage for safes, sheds, crates, vehicles, basically anything that can hold gear. There is a cycle that cleans up gear storage objects that have not been accessed within in the past 30 days. It used to be 21 days when the server was a little more populated, but now it's been changed back to 30 days.

So, how do I make sure my stuff doesn't despawn on me?

Well, for safes, sheds, crates, etc. You will need to access the gear and move the gear out or add gear into the storage object. The server will register the change you have made to the storage and reset the 30 day cleanup timer. I have had an issue in the past where I have lost my whole entire safe of items when I took (for example) a DMR out of the safe and added it back in. You need to add in gear that has not been in the safe before, or you can simply take the gear out and transfer it to another storage object.

Does this work for vehicles too?

I have a different method for vehicles. And so far it has been working. So if you've managed to not blow up your vehicle within the past 30 days, all you will need to do to keep your vehicles updated is to simply hop into the driver/pilot seat, turn on the vehicle and move it an inch, or to be safe a foot or a meter. It is practically the same thing as hopping into the driver's seat of your vehicle after towing. The server registers the change of position on the map of your vehicle, so it is updated and the 30 day timer is reset.

You must have keys for your vehicles.

The clean up process also gets rid of vehicles with missing keys. That's why it's always best to have a spare key in storage. If the vehicle runs and you don't have a key for it, the clean up process will run. So remember to have spare keys. And if you need one, you can buy a spare for 1 10oz gold at the Mongolville general store, or make them yourself. Just ask for Hippi or I to make you a spare when you're at the general store.

What about my base and objects that do not hold gear?

In order for a base to be a base, there needs to be a safe and a plot pole at the base location. If you do not have both the safe and plot pole, then the base will deleted in the cleanup process.

For players that are under 5k humanity.

You cannot start building a base until you make it to 5000 humanity. Players under 5k are allowed to setup a safe as long as it's not in the way of spawnable loot of course. If you are building, you have violated 2 rules.

First, building without Hero status (5k Humanity).

Second, building without base location permission from the admins. The admins need to approve your site before building.

Violation of these rules will result in a visit from a building manager. You will either be told to halt construction until you reach 5k humanity, or have your base demolished by a manual cleanup cycle.
